3PL and fulfillment operations from receiving through outbound
Third-party logistics moves the physical work of receiving, preparing, storing and shipping inventory to an external operations partner. AM Services supports that workflow for Amazon FBA, direct-to-consumer and B2B inventory, with defined work orders, SKU-level handling and clear handoffs when something does not match the plan.
Match the inbound shipment to the client, SKU, shipment reference and expected quantities.
Workflow overview
What 3PL and fulfillment actually mean
A 3PL is a third-party logistics partner that performs physical inventory work on behalf of a brand. Fulfillment is the execution layer inside that relationship: inventory is received, identified, stored, prepared for a channel, picked or packed when needed, and handed to the next carrier, marketplace or business destination.
AM Services can be used for one part of that workflow or for several connected steps. The point is not simply to rent shelf space. The objective is to keep the physical inventory, the requested handling work and the next destination tied together so the warehouse team knows what each unit is supposed to become and where it is supposed to go.
Service scope:
Receiving & inspection
FBA prep & labeling
Kitting & bundling
Storage & inventory
DTC & B2B fulfillment
Amazon removal & rework
Cross-border logistics coordination
How inventory moves through the operation
Most fulfillment problems start before the outbound label is printed. A shipment arrives without a clear SKU list, received quantities are assumed instead of counted, prep instructions change after work has started, or damaged and usable stock are mixed together. A controlled 3PL workflow removes those gaps by defining each handoff.
Typical flow:
An inbound work order identifies the client, SKUs, expected quantities and requested handling.
Receiving confirms what physically arrived and records visible exceptions.
Required prep, labeling, kitting or rework is completed to the approved scope.
Inventory is assigned to storage or moved directly to an outbound workflow.
DTC, B2B or FBA work is picked and prepared against the inventory record.
Quantities, exceptions and outbound references are reconciled at the handoff.
Marketplace inventory needs more than basic storage
Amazon inventory creates warehouse tasks that do not exist in a simple store-and-ship operation. Units may need FNSKU labels, old barcodes covered, multipacks assembled, cartons labeled to a specific shipment, removal inventory separated by condition, or packaging corrected before stock can be routed back to FBA.
AM Services treats those requirements as operational instructions attached to the SKU and work order. The warehouse does not assume that every unit follows the same path just because it belongs to the same brand.
Examples of marketplace handling:
Unit and FNSKU labeling
Carton and shipment labeling
Approved packaging or repackaging
Multipack, bundle and kit assembly
Amazon removal receiving and sorting
Relabeling and rework before a new destination
Quantity reconciliation before outbound handoff
When a 3PL relationship is useful
A 3PL becomes useful when inventory handling is consuming internal time, when the same stock serves more than one sales channel, or when products need physical preparation before they can be sold or shipped. It is also useful when a brand needs a local operating point for Amazon removals, rework, relabeling or inventory that is not ready to move directly from a supplier to the final destination.
The right scope depends on the product, volume, storage profile, sales channels and amount of handling required. AM Services confirms those details before the workflow is agreed rather than treating every inventory program as the same service.
A good scope discussion should cover:
SKU count and typical unit volume
Carton, pallet or unit receiving profile
Amazon, DTC and B2B channels in use
Prep, labeling, kitting or rework requirements
Storage volume and expected inventory turns
Outbound frequency and destinations
Any product-specific handling or compliance constraints that need separate review
Bring the SKU mix, typical volumes, sales channels and the physical handling that happens today. We can define which receiving, prep, storage and outbound steps should sit with AM Services.
